Information
Overview
The Database includes all the pertinent in-game information that does not simply change when a strategy is revised. In other words, this section includes the stats for every vessel and station in the game - standard and mixed-technology- as well as the technology progression for each faction.
The section is broken up into three main components for each faction, where you may find data on each aspect of the game.
Unit Overviews
As stated previously, standard Unit Overviews and Mixed-Tech Unit Overviews (not yet included) are dedicated to giving you all the statistics you’ve wanted to know for each vessel that you will be commanding. Ships will generally be categorized using the “small, medium, large, station” nomenclature, because these are the general rules for Fleet Operation weapons. However, you will also notice that vessels are described as “cruisers,” “battleships” and other similar terms. These two classification systems stack in Fleet Operations to allow vessels to have a great deal of flexibility. Consequently, you will notice that certain weapons do increased or lessened damage versus battleships for instance, which is independent of the specific vessel’s size classification. In other words, if a torpedo weapon that does 2/3 damage against battleships is deployed against a medium sized battleship, this weapon will miss the targeted vessel 20% of the time and deal 2/3 the damage to that warship.
Nonetheless, vessel size is described by the terms Small, Medium, Large, and Station. Small roughly equates to scouts, freighters and destroyers, while Medium is equivalent to cruisers and support vessels (usually starships with three special abilities), Large to battleships, and Station to, well, stations. Note that the Station designation is considered a separate category from Large for damage calculations (weapons that deal increased damage against "large" vessels, do not deal increased damage against stations, unless otherwise written in the tooltip for instance). Weapon types are Beam, Torpedoes, or Pulses and are abbreviated as B, T, or P within this section. Weapon range can either be Short, Medium, Long, or Artillery (abbreviated as S, M, L, or A). Note that mixed-technology units receive their own special mixed-tech benefits, and thus the Mixed-Technology Unit Overviews in this guide are completely self-sufficient (avatar bonuses do NOT stack with normal mixed-tech units). Italicized abilities are those that were gained from mixed-technology. For more information on the damage statistics and what the effects of each weapon type are, visit the Unit System.
Vessel speed is described numerically, with the lowest numbers indicating lower speed, and higher numbers indicating a greater velocity.
Note that Borg Collective Uplinks are included within the cost and build time of Borg Units, and the cost of Romulan refitted units includes the cost of the base chassis as well.
Warp-In does not cost resources, but there is a unique probability for receiving each ship type. Standard Warp-In sends three vessels, so each "slot" has an independent percentage for vessels available to that Warp-In type. The Experimental Warp-In sends but a single vessel, so the chance of receiving it is 100%.
The one thing that is not described in the Unit Overviews is the firing arcs for various weaponry. As a consequence, to learn more about this aspect of gameplay, remember that all pulse based weapons are "forward firing only" - that is to say, only usable in 90 degrees to stern and starboard of the posterior of the ship (180 degree firing arc). Of course, many other weapon systems are specially restricted, and to discover this information it is important to visit the appropriate Unit Analysis which can be found in the Strategy section.
Station Overviews (not yet included)
Station Overviews are likewise designed to give the appropriate statistics for each station that you will construct in Fleet Operations. As a consequence, these overviews contain all the same information as would be found for a Unit Overview (build time, offensive value, defensive value, etc), but also the research (and respective cost and time) that each station is capable of completing.
Technology Trees (not yet included)
Technology Trees graphically display the requirements for each station and vessel that is buildable in Fleet Operations. You can click on each of these stations or vessels to get to the appropriate featured unit in the overview sections.
